I don't have children, so my cats *are* my children. Everything in my house is all about Amber - which, I'm sure she'd agree, is how it's supposed to be. We celebrate her "birthday" (I'm not sure when that was so I've designated the day I brought her home as her birthday). I would never dare come home from a trip without bringing her back a present. If I know I'm not going to be home for several hours after her regular dinner time, I'll actually have my pet sitter come by to feed her.... Well, you get the idea of who's in charge here! I can’t imagine pets being anything but members of the family. I don’t have children, so my cats *are* my children. She even goes to work with my husband where she has her own chair(padded of course). She doesn't get people food except on holidays when she gets a bite of turkey. And yes, she gets Christmas presents and although she doesn't get an Easter basket she LOVES the egg hunt.
